Stephanie Sheppard was born and raised in Mankato, Minnesota.  She studied art at the University of Minnesota and received a B.A. in Studio Art in 1988. Her interest in professional painting only seriously developed ten years ago with the birth of her son, Jordan.

Sheppard's long-time influences have been Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, and today's Alan Wolton and Curt Walters. With these artists she shares a strong, rich palette.

Her landscapes pulse with vivid color and bold brush strokes thereby luring the viewer in for a closer look. Because her colors are so bright, they initially seem exaggerated. "The colors are there," Sheppard notes. "When we really look close and take the time to enjoy the ever changing landscape, we will see the oranges and reds and violets that are there."

Sheppard, an award winning artist, now resides in Aurora, Colorado with her family and travels extensively throughout the west. Her paintings not only focus on the canyons, mountains and gardens of the region, but also the Western way of life.
